The sporty and economic Cynos was a popular Toyota model in Japan and throughout the rest of the world, where it was simply known as the Paseo. The first one rolled off the production line in 1991, with a body that was similar in design to the Tercel and available in a coupe and convertible edition. It was sold as the Paseo in the United Stated through 1997 and in Canada, Europe and Japan until 1999. The Echo model replaced it in the 2000 model year. One of the nice things about finding a used CYNOS for sale and purchasing it is that many of the cars parts are interchangeable with the parts for a Toyota Tercel.
Toyota discontinued selling the Cynos in the United States thanks to flagging sales, but there are still a number of them under the name of Paseo available for purchase. You can also contact a Japanese vehicle exporter to find a used Cynos for sale and have it brought into the country. Many Cynos’ found in Japan or in other Asian markets will have decent mileage on them as cars are not retained by one owner overseas for the length of time American owners keep their cars.
